Depart Fez in the morning, traveling via Ifrane to the Cedar Forest near Azrou. Here, you might spot Barbary apes climbing the majestic trees and observe diverse birdlife. After lunch in Midelt, continue towards Merzouga. You’ll pass through Errachidia and Erfoud (famous for dates) and marvel at the Ziz Valley’s vast palm groves. Arrive in Merzouga for dinner and your overnight hotel stay.
After breakfast, embark on a 4×4 excursion around Merzouga. Explore the local oasis and visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnaoua people, renowned for their unique music and lifestyle. You’ll also see the Tissardmine oasis. Later, meet your camels for a trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a spectacular sunset. Enjoy dinner and an unforgettable night in a traditional Berber desert camp.
Wake early for a stunning desert sunrise. Then, camel trek back to Merzouga for breakfast. Your journey continues to Rissani, home to one of Morocco’s largest souks (traditional markets), and Erfoud, known for its fossil-rich marble. Travel through the palm groves of Tinjdad en route to the magnificent Todra Gorges. After lunch here, drive via Boumalne and the Dades Valley to the Dades Gorges for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Ouarzazate. Journey through the scenic Dades Valley, also known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Continue to Kelaat M’gouna, the “Valley of Roses” (especially vibrant in spring), where you’ll have lunch. Pass the expansive Skoura palm groves and visit the impressive Kasbah Amridil before arriving in Ouarzazate for dinner and your hotel.
Following breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, dubbed the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visits may include the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios. Next, journey to the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah, famously used as a backdrop for many films.
