Your Saharan escapade begins at 8 am as we depart Fez, bound for the captivating desert of Merzouga. Journey through the picturesque Middle Atlas Mountains, drinking in the breathtaking scenery. A stop in Azrou offers a chance to observe the playful Barbary apes in their native cedar forests and capture stunning vistas. We’ll pause for a delightful lunch in Midelt, a charming town nestled high in the mountains. Continuing our adventure, we’ll traverse the lush Ziz Valley, a stunning panorama of sprawling palm groves, vibrant agriculture, and spectacular gorges. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you’ll settle into a comfortable hotel for the night, anticipating the desert adventures to come.
After breakfast, your desert exploration ignites at 9 am with an exciting 4×4 excursion. Discover the unique culture of Khamlia village, home to the Gnawa people, where you’ll be moved by their soulful music and learn about their rich traditions. We’ll also visit a serene desert oasis and share a moment of connection over tea with a welcoming nomadic family in their traditional tent. Lunch will be served back in Merzouga. Then, as the afternoon sun begins to soften, prepare for an unforgettable experience: mount your camel and trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to your Sahara desert camp, where you’ll spend the night under a dazzling blanket of stars.
Wake early to witness the magical spectacle of sunrise painting the vast dunes with golden light. Afterwards, enjoy a camel ride back to Merzouga for breakfast and a refreshing shower. Our return journey to Fez takes us through Rissani, home to one of Morocco’s largest and most vibrant traditional markets (souks), and Erfoud, renowned for its fascinating fossil discoveries. We’ll traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains once more, stopping again in Midelt for lunch. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive back in Fez, your unforgettable desert adventure drawing to a close, leaving you with cherished memories.
